The Vietnam War marked a change in the pop culture scene in South Vietnam. American rock music replaced traditional music as the primary genre in the nation. American soldiers brought rock n' roll with them during the conflict and the people of South Vietnam quickly adopted the genre as one of their own. Cover bands and original rock bands sprouted all throuhout South Vietnam and the genre has remained popular to this day in Vietnam.
